Our patients and their families expect that we will be able to care for them safely. Unfortunately, suboptimal administration of anesthetic and sedative agents is the leading cause of death in dentistry. It is important for the dental team to mount an effective response to the emergencies that may occur as a result of sedation. This course will focus on preparing the dental office team for the management of sedation emergencies along with a discussion concerning prevention and early recognition of deleterious trends during all phases of phases of pediatric sedation.

  • Able to ensure that the office has the appropriate equipment and medications necessary to manage sedation emergencies
  • Understand that intended level of sedation and actual level of sedation may differ
  • Understand the importance of an effective team response to a sedation emergency
