Course Summary: Children and Adolescents can manifest several gingival conditions. Some are related with inflammatory processes; some are manifestation of systemic conditions. The purpose of this presentation is to shine light on the most common gingival conditions that present in young patients. We will be covering the diagnosis process, assess the etiology and provide possible treatment solutions. Special emphasis will be placed in conditions related with orthodontic therapy, like gingival hyperplasia. Overall, it is important to highlight the prevalence of these conditions and the importance of early diagnosis and managements for a long-term overall oral health.

Pinelopi Xenoudi, DDS, M

Pinelopi Xenoudi, DDS, MS gained an DDS degree from the University of Athens, Dental School in 2003 with the Degree of Dental Surgeon in 2003. She then attended the Louisiana State University where she completed a dual certificate/degree program in Periodontics and Master in Oral Biology. She achieved the Diplomate Status of the American Board of Periodontology in 2008. She has held multiple leadership positions in different institutions, including being the Program Director of the Postgraduate program in Periodontics at UCSF. Dr. Xenoudi’s main interests include control of periodontal disease and medically compromised patients, laser mediated wound healing and curriculum development. Dr. Xenoudi has lectured nationally and internationally on interdisciplinary treatment and education, soft tissue manipulation,
