Presenter 1: The Kindergarten Dental Checkup Law (AB 1433), enacted in 2006, identifies children with unmet oral health needs and provides schools with essential information to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn. Although the CDA has collected this data annually, it has not yet been systematically analyzed. This presentation provides a 10-year analysis of county-level trends in California.

Presenter 2: This presentation reviews current databases available for reporting pediatric dental sedation adverse outcomes. Quality data through standardized reporting is imperative for improvements in training, protocols, and sedation guidelines. There will be a discussion of gaps in reporting and suggestions for areas of improvement to strengthen pediatric sedation safety.

Presenter 3: This session examines the structure and collaborative dynamics of dental health agencies and organizations in California and how these networks influence dental-related legislation. This presentation will explore how local oral health departments are funded, whom they report to, and the mechanisms through which they coordinate with regional and state partners such as the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), county health systems, and community oral health coalitions. The presentation aims to highlight how these entities work together (or face challenges) to shape policy, advocate for resources, and implement statewide oral health initiatives.
