Description

This course distills over 20 years of full time clinical private practice successes and disappointments into 90 minutes of “pearls” to best enhance your clinical practice of pediatric dentistry. The realms of treatment modalities will span convention al care with nitrous, conscious sedation to general anesthesia. Clinical technique tips will be given to promote the most positive patient care outcomes. Clinical discussion topics and cases will include esthetic crowns, Class II composites, appliances, trauma management, pathology, special health care needs considerations to clinic flow models for predictable efficiency.

Materials developed will be available and shared with attendees (per request) such as Denovo band to SSC size charts and treatment guide educational sheets to best educate parents regarding risks benefits and options of pediatric dental treatment you recommend. The session will conclude with discussion of the little things that make the big difference in a pediatric dental practice.

Instructor Info:

E. LaRee Johnson, DDS, MS,  graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry before completing a 3-year pediatric dentistry residency and Master of Science degree at the University of North Carolina. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Kellogg Leadership Institute Cohort V and serves as adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina. She has been inducted into the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Since opening a practice from the ground up and completing board certification, Dr. Johnson has mentored many colleagues to achieve board certification and open and/or tune-up their practices. She is the current President of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Johnson has been in full-time private practice for over 20 years. She is the founder of Carolina Pediatric Dentistry, a multi-doctor, two-location practice in Raleigh, North Carolina and speaks nationally and internationally. Professionally, she foremost enjoys clinical pediatric dentistry. Her effective practice management skills are simply a byproduct of ensuring a patient-centered practice model.

Being a wife and mother of two teenagers brings Dr. Johnson her greatest joy. Her family’s hobbies include anything outside, travel, CrossFit and endurance sports. She and her husband have completed multiple Ironman triathlons, the Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run, and together have the goal to complete a marathon in each of the 50 states before age 50 (including qualifying for the Boston Marathon).

The California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD) is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider Approved by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education.

Credit is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis. Each attendee should claim only those hours of credit that he or she was in actual attendance of the educational activity. Participants should retain course certificate of completion for their records.

Original Continuing Education Certificates are subject to Dental Board of California audit and should be retained by the licentiate for a period of six years. Completion of these courses does not constitute authorization for the attendee to perform any services that he or she is not legally authorized to perform based on his or her license or permit type. This course meets the Dental Board of California’s requirements for above designated units of continuing education.
