Description

The Light at the End of the ‘Dark Tunnel’” with Dr. Christopher Lugo
The single practice model of dentistry is becoming less common and many providers are looking to expand their existing practice to incorporate more offices or other specialties. People familiar with this process call it “entering the dark tunnel” and this usually occurs when growing to 4-8 offices. Partnerships, private equity, outside strategic financing, associate hiring, staffing turnover, DSO formation and EBITDA are all new terms in this market environment. My lecture will focus on introducing the concepts of multi-practice ownership involving de novo vs acquisition transitions from the view of a pediatric dentist in the middle of this “dark tunnel.”

Tools for Everyday Living in Ease” with Dr. Khanh Le
These are unprecedented times. There is a lot of commotion in the world and it is understandable to get caught up in the uncertainty, however, it is also possible to navigate these times with calm and confidence. To do this, we must consider taking good care of ourselves, physically, mentally and emotionally. We are usually very good to our physical body. It’s time to give our mental and emotional health the same consideration.

Instructor Info:

Christopher G. Lugo, DDS, is the owner of Puget Sound Pediatric Dentistry, located in Snohomish County, WA. His 4 locations employ 7 pediatric dentists, an oral surgeon and 43 staff members. He has been in private practice for 17 years and recently started a shared service organization: Dynamic Dental Management. He does not publish journal articles or spend time debating the subtle nuances of different dental materials. He is a practice owner and focuses on running an exceptional dental group that is constantly expanding. He has developed a culture of “progressive sustainability” that focuses on the practicing pediatric dentists’ emotional and physical health while concurrently driving profitability. He looks forward to talking to you about practice expansion and the lessons he has learned throughout his career.

Khanh Le, DDS
Growing up in a dental family, Dr. Khanh Le has been around dentistry her whole life. Her fondest memories are of playing a game with her brother and cousins called, “We’re going to pull out your rotten tooth, but it won’t hurt a bit!”

Five years ago, Khanh was introduced to Reiki, a Japanese technique for relaxation and stress reduction. Captivated by its soothing effects, she pursued advanced Reiki training, receiving her Reiki Master certification soon after. Khanh has presented and demonstrated Reiki at the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s annual meetings and for pediatric dental residents at USC. In the summer of 2017, she answered the San Fernando Valley Dental Society’s call to dentists to share their health tips. This resulted in an article on the benefits of Reiki to the Dental Dimensions Journal.

Khanh attended the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. She received her pediatric dentistry training from the University of Texas, School of Dentistry at Houston. Currently, she is a board certified pediatric dentist practicing alongside her brother, an orthodontist.
