Dr. Wright intends to trace the development of behavior management in pediatric dentistry, and to identify major changes in behavior management that have occurred in the past 40 years and how these changes have impacted on dental practice.

Gerald Wright, DDS was a Diplomate and past President of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a Fellow and past Examiner of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. For his work on behalf of children, he was awarded the metal of Paris in 2001, and in 2004 Honoris Doctoris Causa from the Belarussian Sate Medical University and the Herman Fellowship at the University of Western Australia.

Dr. Wright, born in Canada, received his undergraduate dental education at the University of Toronto and his postdoctoral training at Indiana University. His academic career was based at Western University where he served as Chair of the Division of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry and Assistant Dean. He is currently a Professor Emeritus.

During his career, he published five books, numerous articles and book chapters and lectured throughout the world. He has been Visiting Professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Baylor College in Dallas, Trinity College in Ireland, Ulm University in Germany, and Sydney University, Sydney Australia. Much of his time has been devoted to the development of programs to assist the teaching of the pediatric dentistry in less wealthy nations.

The California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD) is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider Approved by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education.

ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to CSPD at (916) 231-2142 or to ADA CERP at www.ada.org/cerp

Credit is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis. Each attendee should claim only those hours of credit that he or she was in actual attendance of the educational activity. Participants should retain course certificate of completion for their records.

Original Continuing Education Certificates are subject to Dental Board of California audit and should be retained by the licentiate for a period of six years. Completion of these courses does not constitute authorization for the attendee to perform any services that he or she is not legally authorized to perform based on his or her license or permit type. This course meets the Dental Board of California’s requirements for above designated units of continuing education.
